Shuuji/Nanzoin Temple Day In IIZUKA

Shitama-san took me to his hometown, Iizuka, this past Saturday to practice shuuji at a shuuji doujou!! During the car ride (into the AMAZING COUNTRYSIDE that is Iizuka), I told him I loved Japanese temples and shrines and countryside, and he decided to also take me around Nanzoin Temple (pictures below, amazing). Shitama-san's 16 year old nephew (Yuuki) watched over me as I did shuuji and I tried to get him to practice his English with me (but I was the first American he'd ever talked to and he got shy with English). Nanzoin was BEAUTIFUL, by the way. Minus the incredible heat, I would be so down to live there. Or at least live in Iizuka. Or next to that massive Buddha.

Beach Day at Nata Beach!!

Mutsuko drove us to the beach (Nata Beach) today and it was really wonderful and sunny and the ocean was warm and full of all sorts of clear, angry jellyfish. Other than the jellyfish, though...
Kei (Kurono Kei, naturally) tried to teach me how to skimboard (which was 90% fail), but still really fun ★
Hanging out in the ocean, having "Dynamite" stuck in my head, floating Japanese boys saying "I like sea",  having all our hair turn soft and wonderful.

Afterwards, Mutsuko, Tinks, and I ate ramen (and gyoza OF COURSE) at 三氣 in Daimyo. Mutsuko got the ラーちゃん which is apparently a VERY LARGE mixture of ramen and champon. Hahaha

I'll put up pictures from my day at countryside Iizuka when I get them emailed to me!

I throw my hands up in the air sometimes
Saying AYO, gotta let go
I wanna celebrate and live my life
Saying AYO, baby let's go

ZOMG Yoshimoto Coookies

ZWHAT?! Hana-san brought back these Yoshimoto cookies from Osaka! It's a comedian talent agency and there are all these wonderful, hilarious konbis that I love. SHLOOOOVE. They are funny. I want to be on their TV shows. Or...go shopping with them in Osaka or something. Or just be their best friend.
Look how genki they all are, crowded around their funny bus-
And my favorite Yoshimoto comedians! I ate these cookies...
はんにゃ、森三中、チュートリアル、ハリセンボン、and also ブラックマヨネーズ but I didn't take a picture of them. I still love them, though.

They MATCH MY PENCIL CASE, TOO!! So much Yoshimoto in ONE DAY?! Yes, it is possible and I have experienced it and I am pleased.

Tonight, I will actually practice shuuji at my apartment because I'm being taken to Iizuka by this one guy so his shuuji-teaching-sister can give me a shuuji lesson. Wooo! But my MAIN THING...is not embarassing myself because I haven't practiced since I've been in Japan. Which means I will practice after work today.

Also, going to that legit haircut place in Daimyo again today.
One of the stylists is super awesome...and grungy...but in the best way possible.

Now back to script writing for work...!!

Uh Oh

$18 in my account, ¥1000 of borrowed money, and ¥88 (that's 88 cents) to call my own. And I don't have new money coming into my account until mid-September.

So I either have to find a paying job or start eating slices of bread for the next month. Literally.

But, you know, I'll "figure it out".

-EDIT- I'm surrounded by good people and I randomly decided to listen to some Simon & Garfunkel and I feel a lot better. Having no money will definitely prove to be interesting...

Omatsuri Food

I actually stole this photo from a friend...BUT, that's not the point. These things are so delicious. They sell them at omatsuris (festivals) and I think it's kind of like a rolled-up okonomiyaki?? Maybe? But the egg on top is derrricious. YUM. Happy EATING!!

My Appearance on Mentai Wide :)

Got interviewed for FBS's show Mentai Wide!! :)
I'm on for a bit at  0:09 and then from 3:18 onwards, teeee ♪

I love Chin-nen! And I keep running into the director of this show out and about on the weekends. Why? I don't know, but I'm always surprised to see him and I'm starting to think I should be less surprised. Anyways, the interview was super fun, lalala!

Ninja Pants

HEYOOOO! ♥
OK so the other interns and I are making these Japanese grammar videos for the school and since the other students are too busy, WE basically just play every single character in the first video. This involves me putting on a ninja outfit (let's not get into it). BASICALLY, after we finished shooting, I realized that the NINJA PANTS WERE AMAZING. LOOK AT THEM. My shirt happened to be all floofy and baggy, too, so it was like an UNMEI type sich. I want to take them home and dance around in them to some M.C. Hammer.

If I steal one thing...I mean, haha, WHAT?

TYPHOON and my little friend

TYPHOON? REALLY?
Typhoon hitting Fukuoka today and tomorrow. It's VERY windy and the rain is gonna get worse. But, I'm cool with it I guess...Just gotta type my hair up and get an umbrella made of steel.

Also...
Meet my little friend. I always see him super late at night right next to my apartment when all the construction workers come out to work on the street. Is he sleeping? Sleeping on the job?

Last also, I went to MAMI's yakiniku place in Daimyo with some friends last night!! So funny to see Mami out of Fubar, haha. So cute! And SUCH DELICIOUS YAKINIKU. And really pretty cheap (only ¥1400), plus Mami brought us a "service" of this really good sushi with some thinly sliced raw meat on it. It was all really delicious. Mmmm...

Pictures Of Food

90% of my thoughts have to do with food, and therefore I take MANY PICTURES OF FOOD. Plus, there's so much good food in Japan. I had the most amazing hamburger at a Jamaican bar on Saturday. Seriously, it was delicious. Anyways, I've decided to finally post a whole bunch of the pictures up before they disappear into the abyss that is my iPhoto.
I have plans to go to that ¥100回転寿司 place for cheap delicious sushc after work/school and then to Quickly! to get some boba. Should I have Matcha Milk boba or Coconut Milk boba??
